What is a Child Abuse Pediatrician?  A Child Abuse Pediatrician is a Pediatrician who has completed additional specialized fellowship training in the field of Child Abuse & Neglect.  Our CARE Team Clinic evaluates more than 1,750 children and adolescents annually and provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation.  Our Child Abuse Pediatricians see children and adolescents with accidental and non-accidental injuries including traumatic brain or abdominal injury, fractures, burns, and bruises as well as concerns of sexual abuse or assault, neglect, and drug exposure.  A detailed medical evaluation by a Child Abuse Pediatrician can help determine the difference between injuries from child abuse versus a medical condition that mimics child abuse.  In addition, the CARE Team Clinic offers special expertise and a family-centered approach to the care of children with Failure to Thrive or Severe Childhood Obesity.

The CARE Team Child Abuse Pediatricians are not only Clinicians providing specialized medical care, but are also Educators and Advocates.  Our Child Abuse Pediatricians lecture both regionally, nationally, and internationally on child maltreatment and can provide expert witness testimony upon request.
